October 13th – January 19th, 2012
October 13th – January 19th, 2012 New York, New York – enter:gallery is pleased to announce its third exhibition, featuring the work of Wesley Berg. The series, Fair Chase, is comprised of large charcoal drawings, depicting various natural poses and actions of bears. The opening reception will be Thursday evening, October 13th, 7:00 – 9:00 pm at enter:gallery, 60-62 E 11th St. 3rd Floor, between Broadway and University Place. Food and drinks will be provided.
In Fair Chase, Wesley Berg expands on an earlier series dealing with bear hunting and its implications. Finding a close connection between the presence of the bear and that of the human, Berg simplifies his imagery to a more important form; that of the presence of the life-size bear. Due to his personal communion with and exploration of remote and uninhabited places, Berg seeks to understand the relationship between the human and the nature in an increasingly modernized world. As a result, Fair Chase confronts the viewer with the power and beauty of nature in the midst of the controlled urban metropolis.
Wesley Berg is a MFA graduate from the University of Florida. He has exhibited in international galleries, and has participated in multiple residencies around the world. Wesley Berg is currently living and working in Santa Fe, NM. Please visit www.wesleyberg.com
